United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation and Group O Award First of Five $10,000 Scholarships to Hispanic MBA Student

9.18.2013 – CHICAGO:  The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation (USHCC Foundation) and Group O awarded the first of five $10,000 scholarships September 17. The recipient was announced during the USHCC’s 34th Annual National Convention in Chicago, the largest networking gathering venue for Hispanic business leaders in America. 

"The USHCC applauds Group O for its commitment to helping grow tomorrow's business leaders," said USHCC President & CEO Javier Palomarez. "These scholarships will allow young people to attain higher education – placing them one step closer to fulfilling their dreams."

Group O, recognized as a Top 5 Latino-owned business in the U.S., has made a $50,000 commitment to award graduate level students a $10,000 scholarship each year for the next five years. This year, the scholarship was open to Hispanic MBA students at the University of Notre Dame.

 do,” said Gregg Ontiveros, Group O CEO.  “The next generation of Hispanic business leaders will need to be prepared to lead and compete on a global level – and we’re excited to partner with USHCC to help make that happen.”Marcus Arroyo, an MBA student at the University of Notre Dame, was awarded the $10,000 scholarship.  After graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy, Arroyo served in the United States Navy for 7 years, attaining the rank of Lieutenant. He served aboard ship in Japan and at a joint service IT communications facility in Germany. 

Upon completion of his degree, Arroyo plans to pursue a career in technology consulting.
